Constellations for a New System II
Cynotypes Series

Cyanotype print on Japanese paper, and acupuncture needles
Artist's skin scanned

2025

This time, I approached my body as a site of migration and transformation, imagining my pores as constellations. After accidentally burning my skin at the beach, I peeled it and preserved it, later scanning it to create a new image. Using cyanotype—a light-sensitive process—I worked with the idea that both the image and the skin are surfaces that record exposure.

The acupuncture needles I insert into the pores of the photograph are the same ones I previously used on different parts of my body.

What emerges is a dialogue between a body shaped by communism and the structures of capitalism. By scanning my skin, I attempt to translate the experience of migration: the need to reconfigure, to rebuild. Between these two worlds, transformation becomes necessary—not to reconcile them, but to create something entirely new.
