“The Beauty Within. An Experience Designed Especially for You” was my project for my Master of Fine Arts thesis at Columbia University. This piece explores the intersection between personal expression, beauty, and art through a deeply participatory process.

Participants are invited to commission personalized wallpapers that reflect their individuality to decorate their private spaces. They select colors and patterns that resonate with their personal aesthetic and design the images using an artificial intelligence application. The color palette for each design is uniquely generated from a menu of healthy foods that influence the biomaterial (excrement) used to create the pigments. In essence, the body itself produces the color, which participants can control through their diet. For example, eating dishes with beets produces a pink color palette, while turmeric produces golden tones.

In addition, I have developed a specialized ink from treated excrement that can be used for screen printing, watercolor, and other techniques. The wallpapers are created by combining treated excrement and gold leaf to produce distinctive and luxurious pieces intended to transform private spaces into deeply personal expressions.
